Accessibility statement
This accessibility statement applies to this website, which is run by [COUNCIL NAME]. We want as many people as possible to be able to use it. For example, that means you should be able to:
- change colours, contrast levels and fonts using your browser or device settings
- zoom in up to 400% without the text spilling off the screen
- navigate most of the website using just a keyboard
- navigate most of the website using speech recognition software
- listen to most of the website using a screen reader (including the most recent versions of JAWS, NVDA and VoiceOver)
We've also made the website text as simple as possible to understand. AbilityNet has advice on making your device easier to use if you have a disability.
Compliance status
This website is partially compliant with the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) version 2.2 AA standard, due to the non-compliances and exemptions listed below.
Non-accessible content
The content listed below is non-accessible for the following reasons.
Non-compliance with the accessibility regulations
- Some older PDFs and Word documents are not fully accessible — for example, they may not be structured so they are readable by a screen reader. This does not meet WCAG 2.2 success criterion 1.3.1 (info and relationships). Some of these documents are essential to providing our services. Any new documents we publish will be created to meet accessibility standards.
- Some images may not have suitable text alternatives, so people using a screen reader cannot always access the information. This does not meet WCAG 2.2 success criterion 1.1.1 (non-text content).
Content that's not within the scope of the accessibility regulations
- Some content is provided by third parties and is not under our control — for example, embedded maps, social media feeds, payment providers or government widgets. Third-party content that we do not fund, develop or control is exempt under the accessibility regulations.
- Pre-recorded audio and video published before 23 September 2020, and online maps (where they are not used for navigation), are also exempt.
